Too restrictive

By first time in Shanghai (Pcmac user)

Was never able to get beyond the preset phrases. Turned out to be zero help. Not worth the money. Used an open translation app, instead.
Do not buy

This app does not provide the spelling. Would like to get my money back.
Was not useful in China.

The concept is good but the phases and words were not really useful in China. I was able to use "where is the metro" and "nice to meet you" but nothing else. It needs stuff like "what do you recommend?" What is this dish made of? Fish, chicken, beef, other?" "How much is this?" I travel a lot and can think of at least a dozen phase that this program needs.
Great app - used on trip to Beijing

This app saved me several times when I visited Beijing in April of 2013. A major positive is the fact you do not need to be connected to the Internet to use it. I was able to find a preset phrase for almost every situation I was in. Well worth the price. One down side, it does not display translated phrases in the Mandarin picture-character set. It shows the Romanized spellings of words. The folks in China did not understand what I was showing them. But the app also verbalizes the phrases which worked most everything except in noisy areas. Well worth the money if you find yourself going to China!
