  • I liked the new style

    By ZombiesAteMyNeighbor (Pcmac user)

Now I (as many of the other reviewers) am a HUGE fan of gamehouse, I used to download all of their games on Bigfish as a kid and got really hooked. As an adult playing, a lot of the levels are a breeze and it doesn’t take me much time to finish any of the games with 3 stars each level. Now with the new design I liked how it was challenging. A lot of the levels I had to replay several times to get the full 5 stars I wanted each level, and with the time it took for the energy rebuild it would force me to put my phone down and focus on another task until a couple hours passed by. I did not pay anything to complete the game but it did take some time and patience. So what? It was frustrating at first to not have everything NOW but in the long run I liked how it took awhile to complete each level and unlock all of the upgrades. It was new from the regular easy game style that’s usually presented. Since I do have the Gamehouse App, it looks like a similar style is going to be applied to the new Parker&Lane game as well and I really can’t wait! The only reason I didn’t give it a full five stars is because I like selecting which upgrades I would like and we didn’t really have too much information on what upgrades were available, you would just have to see what was in the chest and go from there. Other than that, it was an awesome change from the regular gameplay and I really enjoyed the layout and the challenges 😁
  • Now free to play… but distracts from story.

    By JujuKitten (Pcmac user)

I get that Gamehouse wanted to try a free-to-play format, but I really wish they tried it with a new title rather than the third installment of a series. I’m a huge GH fan (have 26 titles on my iPad, including this one, and I’ve paid the full price for each) and want them to try new things, but the dramatic story of Heart’s Medicine is hurting by this format. Way too many rounds for puzzles to unlock bits of the story (five or more before you can get back to the story rather than story-challenge-story-challenge). Then if you happen to miss a challenge, you have to you 20 MORE energy to replay it (every level is 20 energy). Want more and haven’t earned a free apple in one of the many random prize boxes? Pay up. It feels like more of a cash-grab than the GH format I’ve come to love. A massive disappointment. I just want to know what happens next to Dr. Heart!! And the massive amount of challenges to eventually find the key to unlock the next part of the story (and take forever to get through due to the energy system)? Always after a huge cliffhanger. Only giving three stars because the story so far is still good, but the system is terrible. I’m only plugging forward because I do love GH and want to learn about the story. Just glad I bought the next Dr. Cares for something productive to do while I wait to be able to continue Heart’s Medicine.
  • Too laborious and not much fun

    By Midwest Lynn (Pcmac user)

I just learned about the this app series and played the first three games over the last few weeks. They were fun and very straightforward. But this Doctor’s Oath is a mess. Too many mini games and ways to go off track from the main storyline. Too many bonuses and things to do and earn and it all makes my head spin. All of this is a huge distraction from the main storyline and makes me forget what’s even going on and making me not even care to continue playing. I’ve just unlocked “daily play” and I couldn’t care less. It looks like more craziness to me. This game is a convoluted mess. I watched adds on one of the previous games of this series and it was ok and didn’t bother me. But on this game in the series it seems as if I am constantly watching adds because of all the ads after all the nonsense little games that I have to play to move forward in the main storyline. Also, for one of the other games in this series I did pay a flat fee of 9.99 to get rid of the ads. To me was well worth it. But there is no option here and I don’t want to be nickled and dimed throughout the entire game buying “energy” for Alison. I have made it about 75% of the way through the first section and really I can’t take anymore of this game. It’s so not fun like the previous three games in this series.
  • Different but still great

    By Arenia (Pcmac user)

****Edit: I completed the game and am even more impressed. The story really is great and was even quite emotional. I highly recommend this game.**** Don’t let the reviews put you off. This is totally different from other game house games but it is still amazing and really fun to play. For this title you have energy points that you use for each level and it recharges over time. You can buy food to top up your energy but it’s not a necessity if you don’t mind waiting to recharge. You can also get free food items when you complete certain goals in the game. The story is really interesting and there are tons of extra bonus levels to play besides the main story. It’s not going to be a game that you complete in a couple of days, but I don’t mind that, I’m taking my time and enjoying the story and characters. I hope they make another game like this in the future.
