What is GeoShred?

GeoShred Pro Version 5 is a musical instrument app that runs on multi-touch devices. It offers a performance surface with pitch rounding algorithms and a model of the physics of several types of musical instruments. The app supports AUv3, MIDI In/Out, MPE, and 3D Touch. It also has In-App-Purchases for GeoSWAM and Naada instruments. The app has won several awards and is used by tens of thousands of artists in 48 countries.

Software Features and Description

Download an Android emulator for PC and Mac:

Install the emulator on your PC or Mac:

Open the Emulator app you installed » goto its search bar and search "GeoShred"
The search will reveal the GeoShred app icon. Open, then click "Install".
Once GeoShred is downloaded inside the emulator, locate/click the "All apps" icon to access a page containing all your installed applications including GeoShred.

A real instrument!

I like this very much. This is a very interesting instrument. I play Indian music, among others, and I find myself playing relatively easily. I gave it only four stars (That is now changed to five!) because it’s hard to access all the info, and I hate having to step through to find the sound if it’s #60, for instance. (Received new info... thank you!) Otherwise, a very interesting and playable instrument. I happen to love the tuning in 4ths, my instrument has that so I find things easily here. Also would love to have some more and better acoustic sounds. UPDATE; I have received more info, and now I’m really liking this TOTALLY NEW INSTRUMENT! Five stars ! more discoveries await, including better acoustic instrument sounds. VERY playable!
Desert Island Good!!!

I own 90% of the best IOS synths in the App Store and then some. If I lost them all and had to repurchase but only be able to take 10 to a desert island this app would be one of the chosen few. A lot of synths sound good but over time I keep come by back to the most unique and playable. this app and Animoog would be my favorite had to own. Other apps that I would repurchase in a heartbeat would be Animoog, ThumbJam, Sunrizer, Syntronik (full pack), KQ Dixie (because I have thousands of DX7 presets), Model 15, iVCS3, iM1, iWavestation, iMono/Poly, iMini, iProphet, iSem, and the synths by Yonac. Well, I went beyond 10, who cares...and I’m still trying to find a good drum app. So far Rock DM is winning, although I still have to try Drum Session and DrumPerfect Pro.
Well thought out guitar for keyboardists and vice versa

Buy it now. Buy it now is what this review as well as most of the others will probably end with so top reading this and just do it! Clearly, years of experience both in live performance and suffering through bad interfaces has lead to this instrument. Out of the box you have tools to inspire. The Palm mute level, stiffness, whammy, 2nd harmonic etc are all brilliantly realized and something that you didn’t know you needed but really,really do. The starting collection of sounds is robust and a joy. An experienced performer will not regret what I’m going to recommend. BUY IT NOW!

Provides a smartly laid out touch surface layout that’s great for both amateur and pro musicians to quickly hammer out lead lines and even perform live. Suggestion for the developer: Please give us more traditional instruments in addition to the bevy of wacky and weird sounds (most of which are really not to my liking). More and better sounding stringed instruments would be a natural fit for the interface (see the app “FingerFiddle” for some pointers on some very natural sounding orchestral instruments), but there are some VERY solid sounding electric guitar sounds in this app and I’d only ask that more work be done on the “chugging” muted pick sound, which almost never sounds right in Guitar simulations. Another suggestion to the developer: Please make it so we can “favorite” sounds and put those favorites into a folder or location we can find quickly and easily. With hundreds of sounds and no easy way to organize them, it can slow down music production... Thanks! There is a lot to like here, despite a few minor rough edges. Looking forward to more polish on the UI and organization. Great stuff!
